Maureen and her husband experienced unexplained infertility as they were trying to conceive their first born. With fewer support groups and products on the Internet to ease their experience, they felt extremely frustrated and isolated. They created a product, the Mosie syringe, to add a low risk, low intervention option to the market for people experiencing the same thing. Their first child was the inspiration for that product and their second child was the result of that product. In this episode, we discuss removing the shame around artificial insemination and empowering people to embrace this path. Maureen speaks on getting familiar with your body, the power of words, and how their company, Mosie Baby, works to create a space that talks about artificial insemination in an honest, respectful, educational, and supportive way.

For many people, there’s a desire to love something that we haven’t met yet, and there’s many different journeys we can choose to pursue in an effort to find that. Tune in to hear Maureen’s hope for the future and ways we can destigmatize this love-filled method of conception.

Takeaways:

  • Your cervix changes position in your body during your cycle and your hormones control that. Get comfortable with your body, touching it, and getting familiar with yourself. Start by figuring out where your cervix is.

  • When working with your significant other, you feel connected at another level, but it’s important to set boundaries. Remember to trust your instincts.

  • Family can mean anything you want it to mean.

  • It’s not your fault that you’re experiencing infertility. You have done nothing wrong.

  • Maureen’s definition of family: The joining of people who are shared by a bond of love.
